PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Winter Session is Now Open!
Winter session operates from November 1 to April 30. With shorter days and colder temperatures, outside time gets cut significantly compared to the long warm summer days. But that doesn't mean that there is any less to do!
In fact, winter session is a special time where hikes in snow blanketed forests are magical. Winter session has many unique opportunities that we wait all year for, including snow shelter-making, Ice-skating, and snow-shoeing!

Shelter-Making
There are several types of shelters to make in the winter just from the natural environment. "Wikiup" are basically teepes, but using bark instead of buffalo hide. "Quinzees" are basically igloos, but made by shaping snow, instead of stacking blocks. Our instructors will help you build your own!

Animal Care
Without green grass to feed on, our animals need special tending during the winter. You can help feed them. pet them, or just watch as they enjoy their environment. All of our animals are highly social and would love to meet you!

Snow Shoeing
If you have never been snowshoeing, you must try it!
Snow shoes are provided, as well as guided hikes and instruction.
You can also explore the trials independently.

Maple Sugaring
Maple sugaring is said to have been originated by the Iroquois.
Although harvesting begins in March, guests are invited to
help prepare taps and piping that will deliver the sap to be boiled to remove excess moisture, leaving pure maple syrup. The syrup can be poured over ice pieces for a surprisingly delicious snack!

Ice Pond
The pond is open all year round, and is usually frozen for skating from January through March. Guests are encouraged to bring their own ice skates, but we provide everything needed for curling.
