kids by nature have high energy, but does yours seem to have even more than normal? Kids generally have more energy than than adults, so it's hard to tell what "normal" is. However, it's easy to mistake high energy levels as excessive, when they are actually appropriate. (See: ADD/ADHD)
Regardless of how high your child's energy level is, the response is the same for all - Burn it off! Although this sounds simple, it is not always practical for us to supply the vast amount of activity that kids need and are built for.
First, consider After School and Team Activities. (See: "Sports")
Here are some convenient things you can do at home.
Furniture fort - Let them build structures with the cushions and pillows.
Workout for Kids - (Click here for my best pics!)
Dance - This is one of the best ways to provide stimulation! (See: Skills and Hobbies)
Trampoline - Hula hoop - Jump Rope - (Available in store!)
Summary:
Remember not to blame the child for "being a child." Instead, be mindful of our understandable inability to keep up with them. If the child is bouncing off the walls, its more likely that they are under-stimulated rather than just being bad!
