Home schooling is becoming more frequent. In fact it has many advantages.

Kids can focus on desired material rather than a blanket curriculum.
You can identify and develop child's individual strengths and interests.
You can insure fairness.
You can provide one on one attention.
You can eliminate pressure to conform to an outside standard.
You can avoid the influence of destructive students.
You can better insure safety.
But there are significant disadvantages as well.
Typical parents don't have the skill of professional teachers who have dedicated their lives to be an expert in their respective field.
Experiencing less adversity - means less learning how to overcome adversity.
Less exposure to social experiences - means less development of social skills.
Kids don't learn how to manage time or sleeping routine as well
Reduced opportunity to find new friends.
A parent must be fully available during the day.
You still have to pay school tax!
If you do choose to homeschool make sure to follow these guidelines.
You can enroll your child in online schools. (Click here for my online school reviews.)
Include subjects they don't like - Kids will learn how to overcome adversity, and may actually discover something they like but didn't know.
Firm schedule - This is hard to do in comfort of your own home, which makes it even that much more important!
Grades and report cards must meet state graduation requirements.
A GED is only granted by the state and homeschooled students must pass the states test.
Create a designated and dedicated classroom space. (See catalouge)
No rigid dress code, but must be showered and fed.
Summary
Homeschooling can actually be harder than attending in-person school. It takes much more discipline to work from a place of familiarity and comfort with much more freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Kids understandably just don't have this level of discipline yet.
In addition, one parent, no matter how skilled and knowledgeable they are, can not make up for the 10 different teachers you child meets with at school, each of whom is expertly practiced in their specific subject. Yes, homeschooling has several benefits, but your child simply will not get the same level of education, or the same level of social and emotional development from home.
