Every person ever born has a special skill or ability that most others don't. However, sometimes they just don't know about it...but it's still there.
Having a skill is essential for helping to feel unique, special, and important. One of the most destructive issues that many people have, is not feeling valuable and important.
Love from parents is the most important building block in a child's life, but having a skill strengthens self-esteem profoundly.
It doesn't matter what the exact skill is. It could be athletic ability, artistic ability, cooking, acting, dancing, singing, writing, sculpting, drawing, painting, woodworking, fixing, building, sewing, designing, decorating, teaching, healing, training...well, you get the idea. Every child has some area which they are just naturally good at, and it is essential that they discover it, and cultivate it.
"Trust me, my kid shows no interest in ANYTHING!"
When we are born with a skill, we also enjoy using that skill. Do you think Michelangelo said, "Ugh, I hate painting!" Do you think Beethoven dreaded going to his piano lessons! Do you think Einstein hated doing math! If your kid likes the activity...Go with it!
However, one of the problems that I see is that some kids don't recognize their calling the first time they hear it. But if you are watchful, they give signs without realizing it.
Check what are they watching on their phones!
Dancing - Get them into organized dance groups
Hair and Makeup - Get them into professional cosmetology.
Fighting - Get them into boxing or martial arts
Sports - Well, get them equipment for the sport they are watching, and play it with them, or get them on a team.
Food - Teach them how to make their favorite meals from scratch.
Summary
Every kid has something that they are naturally good at. Make sure to find out what it is and encourage it. They may not embrace it the first time they encounter it, so it may take some persistence to see if it sticks. If it is meant to be, they will love doing it on their own.
